Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis type II (dense deposit disease) is a rare glomerular disease with a hallmark sign of presence of electron-dense deposits within the glomerular basement membrane. The disease is caused with uncontrolled activation of alternative complement pathway. Some cases have a genetic origin. Childhood is a predominant age of the onset.
