Aim. Assessment of role of markers of tubulo-interstitial injury in diagnosing and determination of prognosis of urinary tract infrctions (UTI) in children. Methods. Urinary activity of N-аcetyl-β-D-glycaminidase and it's thermostable isoform, concentration of β2-microglobulin and microalbuminuria were asessed in children with different forms of UTI.
Results. Urinary activity of N-аcetyl-β-D-glycaminidase was significantly higher in children with chronic, especially obsctuctive, pyelonephritis, than in acute pyelonephritis. Urinary enzyme activity correlated (r=0.91±0.073, p<0,001) with activity of renal inflammatory process. Microalbuminuria and urinary β2-microglobulin concentration were associated with renal fucntion parameters.
Conclusion. Determination in the urine of markers of tubulo-interstitial damage can be used for assessment of prignosis in urinary tract infections in children.
